The Porgs are the true stars of Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s new trailer
It could be said that all Star Wars fans, unless they live in a cave, isolated from all kinds of communication, know the Porgs and know their existence in the Star Wars universe for some months.
These adorable penguin-shaped creatures are the latest addition to the Star Wars movie universe, and are considered instant successes among franchise followers who have fallen in love both with the image of these tender creatures and with the way which represent a continued construction of the entire space in “The Last Jedi”.
We should not be surprised at all that there is already a lot of merchandise related to the Porgs, and that the toys and figures of these characters have become viral and sales success in a short time.
Of course, like any kind of movement in the Star Wars franchise, there will be people who are against. It is for this reason that we get many who complain that the fact that there are Porgs is nothing more than a simple cynical marketing strategy designed by Rian Johnson and Disney, or are simply examples that thanks to the purchase of Star Wars on the part of Disney, the films are heading towards an end where everything is too adorable and beautiful.
Rian Johnson was being interviewed by Yahoo Movies when he decided to explain that the idea for the creation of Porgs came precisely from the puffins that inhabit Skellig Michael, the Irish island that was used as a location to locate the island of Luke both in “El Awakening of the Force” as in “The Last Jedi”.
In order to ensure that Porgs are not simply a cynical marketing strategy, Johnson asserted that fans can expect to see them performing small roles that will matter in the film’s history.
Either way, the internet started to do its thing and this is how we can now get a lot of posters edited with the Porg face that appears screaming in the trailer, or even taking the sound to make videos in which are composed songs like Star Wars theme, like this one we leave you then.
